Hero’s Viewpoint /
Children’s Book
In this
activity, YOU will write a children’s book from the viewpoint of
the hero in the book. Make sure the character is a the “good”
guy! You will rewrite a scene or an episode from the book where
this character did something good or heroic. Your job as writer
will be to explain why this good deed was necessary and get the
readers on your side. Write a prologue (introduction) to the
episode and a epilogue (conclusion) so we can be sure that you
read the entire book!
Steps to success
- Identify a hero
from your book and write the story from his/her point of
view.
- Choose one
episode / scene where the hero is in conflict with the the
antagonist (“bad” guy)
- Write a prologue
to explain what events in your novel have led up to the
episode you are writing about.
- Write your
episode from the hero’s point of view that allows him to
justify or explain his behavior. Use short sentences, be to
the point, explain things in detail, explain vocabulary. Do
not emphasize blood and glorify violence.
- Write a epilogue
to explain what events in your novel take place after the
episode you are writing about.
- Format your story
like a children’s book. Illustrate each page. Use page
numbers, title page, etc. Always use correct spelling and
grammar. Be creative, unique and think “outside the box.”
- Create a cover
for your book. Follow book format. Be creative. The title of
the book, your name, date, and section must be on the front
cover!
